Delegates at the Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit 2026 at ADNEC

ADIS 2026 | Quadrupling Attendance at a National Infrastructure Summit

The Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit brings consultants, engineers, developers, government bodies and finance leaders together around a regional pipeline worth more than $57 billion. Its first edition in 2025 ran two days and drew 4,100 attendees. For 2026 the organisers moved to three days, set a target of 10,000 attendees, and gave Centric the entire demand side of the event: strategy, paid media, organic, email, WhatsApp reactivation and call centre confirmation.

Four Times the Attendance on a Fixed Media Budget

  • The Challenge
The targets were 25,000 registrations, 10,000 people on site, and a cost per registration that could not cross $8.00. The media budget was capped and none of the three numbers moved.

Ten professional audiences sat behind those targets. Engineers judge a summit on project delivery, developers on tender pipeline, government on policy access, finance on where capital is going. Addressed as one audience the summit would have been accurate for everyone and interesting to nobody. Addressed as ten separate campaigns across six channels, it would have become ten disconnected efforts sharing a client and a budget.

There was a third problem that most event briefs leave out. Registrations are easy to generate and easy to inflate, and roughly half of any registration list fails to turn up unless somebody does the work of confirming them. A campaign measured only on registrations would have hit its number and left the halls at ADNEC half empty.

The Approach

Six Channels Run Against a Single Registration Target

Centric ran the programme as one system reporting into one shared number. No channel could present a strong result in isolation, and spend stayed free to move each week toward whatever was converting.

Persona Architecture

Ten personas in email and five in paid media, each with its own audience build, creative, landing page and bid strategy. There was no general audience to fall back on. Each persona also got its own argument, taken from the part of the agenda built for it. Construction was told the principals who award the contracts would be there in person. Government was told ministers from 100 countries were attending. Finance was given the $106 trillion of global infrastructure need the summit sizes up, smart cities the AED 13 billion Digital Strategy, urban planning the 2.5 billion more people cities will have to house.

Creative Velocity

Fifty-nine creative variants went into market, including thirty AI-generated videos alongside persona statics, speaker spotlight carousels and retargeting sets. Fatigue was audited every week and underperforming units were cut, which is what stops a two-month flight from decaying in its third week.

Attendees as a Distribution Channel

A one-click share mechanic ran across the delegate, exhibitor and speaker portals. At the moment of confirmation each registrant was handed a pre-written LinkedIn post with a personalised card already attached, so there was nothing to write and nothing to design. Exhibitors used it to bring their own client lists to the floor at no cost to the organiser. Speakers used it as a credential. The summit also ran as a live listing on LinkedIn Events, Eventbrite and Luma, with one consistent identity across all three and separate tracking on each, so organic could be measured against paid instead of disappearing into direct traffic.

A Countdown Built on Real Deadlines

Four beats, each tied to something that was actually true. One month out the agenda and the speaker list went public. One week out a single creative unit ran across paid, organic and email simultaneously. The day before carried last-places messaging timed to each recipient's timezone. Across the three days, highlights published live.

Measurement That Could Be Checked

Server-side conversion tracking on LinkedIn, Meta and Google meant iOS and cookie-blocked registrations still counted. Lead scoring in the CRM qualified a delegate at 50 points, and any contact who crossed that line without registering was handed to a person at a call centre rather than to another automated email.

The Outcome

Seven Targets Beaten and One Channel That Missed

The summit took 31,000 registrations against a target of 25,000 and put 17,500 people through the doors at ADNEC against a target of 10,000. Attendance grew 327% over the 2025 edition. Cost per registration came in at $4.84 against an $8.00 ceiling, and cost per attendee at $7.08 against a $20 target.

The number that mattered most sits between those two. 56% of everyone who registered actually attended, against a target of 30%. On a file of 31,000 people that difference is worth roughly 8,000 bodies on site.

The largest single source of registrations carried no media spend at all. Organic and email together produced 31% of registrations. LinkedIn delivered 29% at $7.79, Meta 21% at $8.48, Google 14% at $3.87 and WhatsApp 4% at $5.57. Three channels carried 81% of the volume and one of them was free.

The share mechanic produced 15,000 attendee posts averaging 800 impressions each. That is 12 million impressions and 420,000 reactions, none of it bought, in a country with a population of roughly ten million.

The most useful finding was a reversal between the two paid social platforms. On LinkedIn, native lead forms returned 6,391 registrations at $7.41 while ads routed to the website returned 204 at $27.98. On Meta the result ran exactly the other way, with website ads delivering 4,806 registrations at $7.76 and native lead forms only 564 at $14.49. Same weeks, same audiences, same creative system. The difference was the ten persona landing pages, which converted cold Meta traffic above 12% and gave that traffic somewhere worth arriving.

Email looked ordinary on acquisition and mattered enormously for attendance. Across 1.55 million sends it opened at 14.5%, but people who had already registered opened follow-ups at 23.7% against 6.3% for those who had not. That gap is most of the reason the show rate held at 56%.

WhatsApp missed. The plan was 4,000 registrations from 10,000 of the previous year's registrants and it returned 1,078, which is 73% short. The message read rate reached 74% and cost per registration landed at $5.57, so the channel worked and the volume ambition was wrong. A 10.8% conversion on a list a year old sits inside normal ranges. The offer and the sequence are being rebuilt for the next edition.

Then the organisers challenged the numbers. Volume that far ahead of plan does not read as success to an event owner, it reads as a broken form or a bought list, and they said plainly that the registrations could not be real. Rather than argue it in a status meeting, Centric commissioned an outbound call centre to work the file by hand across three seniority tiers. 4,990 registrants were called and 2,524 answered, a reach rate of 50.6%. Of those, 1,635 confirmed they were attending. A further 1,788 senior contacts were called by name, 1,387 of them C-suite, directors and vice presidents, and 610 confirmed. Every rate sat inside normal business-to-business ranges. The file was accurate, and three days later the turnstiles settled the question for good.
