CIMA Energy | A Site That Finally Matched the Business
CIMA Energy markets and trades natural gas, procures LNG feedgas, markets crude and natural gas liquids, and provides outsourced producer services covering back office support, hedging advisory and market intelligence. Its buyers are producers, utilities, power plants and industrial end users, alongside a fifth audience that matters just as much: the traders and engineers deciding whether CIMA is worth joining.
- The Challenge
The business had also outgrown the shape of its site. Multiple lines had accumulated over time, described separately and inconsistently, leaving a visitor to assemble the company themselves rather than being shown it.
The Approach
CIMA is Spanish for summit, and a business that grew from three people and 0.014 Bcf per day in 1996 into a top-ten marketer had been trading under a mountain peak logo for years without ever saying what it meant.
Brand Narrative Built From the Existing Name
Elevation became the organising idea across the site. Energy Marketing at Its Peak turned the name into the promise, carried through every section by lines including Delivering Energy. Elevating Performance. and Backed by Legacy. Built for the Future. The voice came from the people who work there, describing a business reaching wellhead to burner tip and naming its people as its real strength. None of it was invented, which is why the website and the identity finally tell the same story.
Evidence-Led Information Architecture
A milestone timeline turns growth from 0.014 to more than 5 Bcf per day into a picture read in seconds, with the Mitsubishi relationship placed as a milestone on that climb rather than a logo in a footer. Proof points sit where a visitor meets them first: 5 Bcf per day traded, more than 120 pipelines, more than 1,000 trading partners, 30 years in business.
Audience-Split Content and Routing
An industrial buyer gets natural gas, LNG, crude and NGLs and producer services spelled out in full. A candidate gets real leadership profiles, a Life at CIMA section and a careers page wired directly into the company's live LinkedIn listings, replacing a static page nobody trusted. The contact page carries an interactive map and a department-aware form, solving the misrouted enquiry problem a generic contact form never fixes.
The Outcome
The site went live on 31 March 2026, with measurement deliberately fixed at the first 30 days so the result could be attributed to the launch and to nothing that followed it.
More Than 100 Direct Approaches
Comprising over 20 contact form submissions and 83 further contact clicks. For a business-to-business trading business in a niche industry, that is the measure that counts.
1,099 Unique Visitors, 83% New
Viewing 1.77 pages per visit, arriving from 12 or more countries including Canada and Japan, and splitting 60/40 between desktop and mobile in a pattern matching a trading desk audience that also checks a phone.
Discovery From Day One
414 visits came from Google organic search before any dedicated search work had begun, alongside 75 from Bing, 12 from LinkedIn and 4 from ChatGPT, meaning AI assistants were surfacing CIMA before a single hour of AI search optimisation had been spent on it.
Technically Sound at Launch
Google's own measures placed the build in the good range: 81 out of 100 overall speed and quality, a 190 millisecond interaction response, cumulative layout shift of 0.016 against a good threshold of 0.1, and rage clicks at 0.15% of sessions. Authority has compounded since, with Ahrefs recording 70 referring domains before the rebuild and 466 five months later.
Websites That Represent the Business Accurately
Centric rebuilds corporate sites so the structure carries the full scope of the business in one voice, argues by evidence rather than adjective, and launches technically sound enough to earn organic and AI visibility from the first day.
